News.

April saw the conducting of the Lions Motor Show and a Tractor Trek, raising money for the Lions Cord Blood appeal in conjunction with the Worlds Biggest Barbeque day.

On Saturday 12th April, 19 tractors of all sorts and makes travelled to Limbri, about 25km from Kootingal, enjoying afternoon tea at Limbri and returning along a bush track and crossing the Cockburn River, which luckily was only quite shallow at the time.

Sunday 13th of April was very busy as we catered for approximately 2,000 people who came to see the extensive display of hot rods, vintage, veteran and “Feral” cars, motor bikes and tractors.

There were displays of small engines, shearing, burn outs and many other attractions.

One of the main attractions was the first World’s Championship Piston throwing contest. The world record now stands at 74.6 meters.

If you think you can better this, please put 18th April 2004 in your diary, when the competition will be staged again.

The Kootingal Development Group also conducted a Pumpkin Festival in conjunction with the Lions Motor Show and this was a big drawcard as well.

The Kootingal Lions Club members catered for this show as well as catering for the Grey Fergie Muster at Bendemeer the previous weekend and during the week catered for the schools environmental seminar at Dungowan.

Changeover will be on 17th June 2003. If you are likely to be in the vicinity of Kootingal at that time please let me know. We would love to have you to visit us.

We meet at the Kootingal Hotel on the first and third Tuesdays of the month at 6.30 pm.
